Artist Books_The Pillow Book, Brody Neuenschwander: Pillowbook calligrapher

The Pillow Book, was defiantly an interesting film to have watch. I enjoyed viewing the movie. story line of the film was an interesting one with the little girl falling in lover with the art of calligrapher and become some what in a way addicted to the art from her dad being a calligrapher artist and allow writing her name out on her on her birthday. the movie made it that seen become a ritual and as she got older looking for lover that seem to drive to have sex or find a lover. The calligrapher in the film was very good. i personal like the art of calligrapher and the artist that did the work for the movie is name Brody Neuenschwander.

Brody was born in Houston, Texas in 1958. He attended Princeton University, where he was appointed University Scholar, graduating in 1981 with high honors for his thesis on the techniques of medieval manuscript illumination. Neuenschwander completed his doctorate on the methodology of German art history in 1986 at the Courtauld Institute in London. At the same time he studied calligraphy at the Roehampton Institute. He being professional career as assistant to Donald Jackson, an English calligrapher living on the Welsh borders. The word Calligraphy mean beautiful writing. In my personal opinion is that Japanese calligraphy is one of the most beautiful writing out there with all there charartics. in the mover the Pillow book you see a lot of the beautiful Japanese calligraphy being drawing on paper as wall as human bodies.
